This was the last song I recorded as a musician. I wrote the lyrics to mirror that, but for the faults in my vocals and the way it was mixed etc. it sucks overall. I began my life as a musician in 1989, and it ended when I wrote this song in 2003. It was the last song I put on an album. I haven't recorded since, other than soundtrack music for film. As bad as it maybe it was me saying goodbye to all the late night recording sessions with Mike Nickerson, Dom Totino, Clay Browning, Mike Messer, Mark Warbington, Scott Stripling, Andy Samford, Adam Funari, Keith (you are a dick) Xenos, Jason Wilson, Grant Nickerson and everyone else. I was hanging the guitar up and walking away. Shortly thereafter I sold my Les Paul, and haven't recorded since. It's a horrible song, I admit that, vocal wise, it's like Joy Division meets Tiny Tim in an alley and they fuck and have goat screaming, essentially that screaming thing was this song as the outcome. But lyrically, it was my way to say good bye to a music career that had spanned 14 years. Although it sounds like a monkey fucking a coconut, it meant a lot to me. So no one is to blame for the shortcomings but me, I played all instruments on the song, and you try an enjoy the Massacred Joy Divison rip off I named "FOREVER"-
lyrics
Remembering those days, Remembering those nights
Remembering how it use to be, before we said goodnight
You remember the pain, and remember it’s so long
Remember how it use to be, and remember where I went wrong
And when I’m done with all this fear and fright,
And it’s time to say goodnight
I’m not sure if it will be alright
But I won’t put up a fight
I will just say goodnight.
Forgetting all those years, and forgetting all the pain
Forgetting how I fucked it up and it all washed away like rain
Forgetting all these things and forgetting them again
And forgetting I was born to lose, and knowing I can’t win
And when I’m done with all this fear and fright,
And it’s time to say goodnight
I’m not sure if it will be alright
But I won’t put up a fight
I will just say goodnight.
